Okay, for all those interested….
Hi! My name is Roque B. Basallote. I’m an Army brat, born in Hawaii when my father was stationed there. My parents are originally from Guam, although I seem to have grandparents and great-grandparents from all over the Pacific. I have two older sisters and one younger brother, a nephew (brat!), two nieces, and one more niece/nephew on the way. I currently live in Northern Virginia.
I was named after my father, who in turn was named after a saint. My name is has a French origin, which as far as I can figure means “rock” or “rocky”. Proper pronunciation of my name is “Row-Key”. The rest of my name has a Spanish origin (I have traced a few Basallotes all the way back to Spain).
I’ve been drawing since I was about five years old after seeing a comic book that I immediately wanted to imitate. What you see on this site is the culmination of over twenty years of copying comics and getting my hands on every art book I can afford (or check out from the library!) A lot of my stuff is line art as a result. I started inking only a few years ago, and started experimenting with digital color only recently. My humor comes from reading wwwaaayyyy too many comic strips in newspapers (which were at times, the only sources of English we could read when my father was stationed overseas), and my Dad (of course!). I also dabble in computer art, mainly Poser.
